Providing Support for Burundian Refugees

We support Burundian refugees at Mahama Refugee Camp, through teaching English language and technology and by providing material educational supplies.  We also funded and ran a free eye care clinic for over 700 refugees in 2017 and 2018, providing comprehensive eye exams, prescriptions for cataract surgery and other eye care illnesses, as well as giving out hundreds of pairs of prescription eyeglasses.

About Us

Why are there Burundian refugees at Mahama Camp?

Violence in Burundi began in April 2015, and since then, over 400,000 Burundians have fled their country. Mahama Refugee Camp is the largest refugee camp in Rwanda, and our support for these refugees began after Anne's first trip to Mahama in Sept 2015.

What can be done?

By offering our financial support and professional guidance, we can directly improve the lives of bright, young refugees who are studying and working towards a better future. Tee Shirt uniforms, solar light hats, dictionaries, smart phones, and other support directly helps these students not lose hope while living the struggling life as a refugee. Our eye care clinic was run during our 2017 and 2018 onsite visits. During those clinics, we provided over 700 refugees at Mahama with comprehensive vision exams, prescriptions for cataract surgery, and provided hundreds of free prescription eyeglasses.

Why Should I Donate to Mahama Group?
